NextBall rank guide

A rank in every mode

Play Rated rooms with your friends or with anyone: every fair match moves your rank in that mode, from Bronze to Legend.

Rated rooms

Every room you create is Rated unless you switch it to Casual. Classic, Futsal, Real Match, Sniper, Headball, Pool, Ice Hockey, Basketball, Volleyball, Tennis and Table Tennis each have their own rank and leaderboard, so a futsal specialist climbs the Futsal ladder and a pool shark the Pool ladder. Chaos and Mini Golf are just for fun.

The lobby tells you whether the next match counts. A match counts when both teams have the same number of players, nobody is a bot, at most one guest per team (counted as 1000 MMR, not rated), the line-up stays the same and it ends normally. Leaving a rated match counts as a loss.

MMR and ranks

An even match is worth about ±30 MMR; beating stronger opponents gives more, losing to weaker ones costs more. Your MMR counts from your first rated match and your rank appears on the leaderboard right away.

Bronze0 – 599 MMR
Silver600 – 899 MMR
Gold900 – 1199 MMR
Platinum1200 – 1499 MMR
Diamond1500 – 1799 MMR
Champion1800 – 2099 MMR
Grand Champion2100 – 2399 MMR
Legend2400+ MMR

Seasons and rewards

At the end of a season every rated player is paid by the rank reached in their best mode: from 50 coins in Bronze up to 2,000 coins for a Legend. The top three of every mode win 3,000, 2,000 and 1,000 extra coins, and the Classic top three take the exclusive season titles and banners. A new season starts every rank halfway back towards 1000 MMR.

Rated wins also pay 3x the coins of a casual win and x1.25 XP, and on Rated Night (Fridays from 20:00 Turkey time) rated match coins are doubled.

Fair play

Ranks have to be earned. Replaying the exact same line-up counts less each time on the same day (and even less between friends); one different player makes it a fresh match, opponents on the same network or device do not count and a player can gain at most 200 MMR per mode per day.

Rooms you create run in your browser. In a rated match every player's browser confirms the score, and the NextBall server replays the whole match with everyone's inputs to check it, so a result cannot be faked. Suspicious results are reviewed and can be reverted.

Tips to climb

Play different opponentsThe exact same line-up over and over counts less every time. Rotate a player in and the match counts in full again.
Win the ball back firstMost goals at low ranks come from giveaways. Stay between the ball and your goal.
Use curve on every shotA straight shot is easy to save. Bend it to the far post.
Chip over the rushWhen a defender charges, a lob over him is the easiest way past.
Train aloneTen minutes of training mode before a rated session warms up your timing.

Frequently asked questions

How do ranks work in NextBall?Every mode has its own rank. Create or join a Rated room (rooms are Rated by default) and every fair match counts: a win adds MMR, a loss removes it. Your MMR counts from your first rated match.
What are the NextBall ranks?Bronze (0–599), Silver (600–899), Gold (900–1199), Platinum (1200–1499), Diamond (1500–1799), Champion (1800–2099), Grand Champion (2100–2399) and Legend (2400+). Each tier below Legend has three divisions.
When does a match count? Both teams have the same number of players, nobody is a bot, at most one guest per team (counted as 1000 MMR, not rated), the line-up stays the same and the match ends normally. What happens if I leave a rated match? It counts as a loss for you. The players who stay keep their result.
