Modes

NextBall game modes

From quick casual games to full 11v11

One game, many ways to play. Every mode below is free and runs in your browser.

Casual

Classic physics football on the Classic and Big stadiums. Create a room, share the link, pick teams and play. Room owners set the time limit (1–10 minutes), the score limit and a password, and can switch the mode inside the room. Wins, goals and assists earn XP and coins, and count toward daily and weekly challenges.

Rated rooms

Every mode except Chaos and Mini Golf has its own rank. Rooms are Rated by default: when the teams are even and nobody is a bot or a guest, the match counts for that mode's rank, from Bronze to Legend. Rated wins pay 3x the coins of a casual win. Read the rank guide.

Real Match

Football with real rules: offside (with the line drawn on the pitch), throw-ins, corners, goal kicks, goalkeepers who catch a dropping ball, and sprint and stamina. Play 3v3, 5v5 or a full 11v11 on dedicated stadiums. Lob shots are allowed here, and a chip that is still rising goes over the bar.

Chaos

Every 10 seconds every player receives a random power, used with E. Ten powers, including Cyclone, Thunderboot (3x kick power), Frostbite (freezes the ball), Hookshot, Graviton and Glitch (reverses an opponent's controls). Pure fun, and never the same match twice.

Sports

Five more sports with their own physics and real rules. Every one of them works with friends, against bots, or both.

Basketball

A FIBA court. Dribble with the movement keys, X passes (or reaches in for a steal), Q shoots at the hoop: 2 points inside the arc, 3 beyond it. Close shots are easier, a defender in your face and shooting on the run make it harder, and a shot can be blocked at the release. Rebounds come off the rim and the board, a 24-second shot clock runs, the ball out of bounds goes to the other team. First to 21.

Volleyball

Beach volleyball in side view. Jump with W, X bumps or sets the ball (aim with A/D), and X in the air at the net spikes it down into the other court. At most 3 touches per side, no double touch, a block does not count as a touch. Rally scoring, sets to 15 won by 2.

Tennis

An ITF hard court, singles or doubles. X drives, Q lobs, Ctrl plays a drop shot and a high ball is smashed; aim with the arrows as you hit. The ball has real height: hit it too low and it stays in the net. Serve into the diagonal box with a second serve, then 15-30-40, deuce, advantage, short sets and tie-breaks.

Table Tennis

A full-size ITTF table in a competition hall, in two views: side view (1v1, see the arc over the net and every bounce) or top view (singles or doubles). X drives, Q loops with heavy topspin, Ctrl pushes with backspin and Z/C add sidespin; a high ball is smashed. Spin is real: drive into backspin and the ball drags into the net, push a topspin ball and it pops up. Every serve bounces on your side first, two serves each, games to 11, deuce at 10-10, lets and doubles turns.

Ice Hockey

An NHL-shaped rink with rounded boards: you glide on the ice, the puck slides far, and there is room to skate behind the nets. Curve your shots and flip passes over sticks.

Mini Golf

A 6-hole park where everybody plays at their own pace, each with their own ball: hole out and walk straight on to the next tee. Walk behind your ball, hold X to charge the putter and release. Bunkers slow the ball, a ramp bends it, water costs a stroke and a windmill blocks the way. Fast balls lip out of the cup. Fewest strokes wins.

Fan modes

Futsal

A small court and a faster yellow ball. Quick passing, 1v1 or 3v3.

Sniper

Tiny goals, first to 3 wins. Every shot has to be perfect.

Headball

Side-view head soccer with gravity and jumping.

Pool (8-ball)

Hold X to charge your cue. Real 8-ball rules and pockets.

Bots, offline play and training

Bot Match has three levels: Easy, Medium and Hard. Hard bots are called Legends: they simulate the real physics before every move, curve their shots and hit first-time finishes. Bot matches also work offline.

Alone in a room? Training mode feeds you passes, crosses and curling balls so you can practise headers and volleys.
